The San Francisco Giants will be represented in the All-Star Game next week by 26-year old righty starting pitcher Tim Lincecum and 28-year old righty reliever Brian Wilson. Lincecum has started 17 games for the Giants this season and he is 8-4 with a 3.28 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. He has whiffed 121 batters in only 109 2/3 innings plus he has only allowed 97 hits so his stuff is still there. But he has walked 46 batters this season and it has gotten him into a little trouble one in a while. This will be Lincecum’s third All-Star appearance. Brian Wilson is having another outstanding year for the Giants. He has pitched in 33 games (0 starts) for the Giants this year and he is 2-0 with 22 saves, a 2.04 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. He has whiffed 49 batters this season in only 35 1/3 innings as he slams the door when he enters the game. This is Wilson’s 2nd All-Star appearance.

26-year old righty starting pitcher Tim Lincecum has been outstanding so far this season. Let all of the experts keep talking about Roy Halladay and Ubaldo Jimenez as Timmy Freaky Franchise is still better than both of them. Lincecum has started 8 games for the Giants this season and he is 5-0 with a 1.76 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. He has only given up 38 hits in 56 1/3 innings so far this season while whiffing 69 batters and walking only 15 showing just how dominating he has been. Lincecum has pitched in 98 games (97 starts) in his four years with the Giants and he is 45-17 with a 2.80 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. No matter what you might be hearing on Baseball Tonight, Sportscenter or the MLB Channel…..Lincecum is still the best starting pitcher in all of baseball.

This is the Barry Zito the San Francisco Giants have been waiting for

The Giants gave lefty starting pitcher Barry Zito big money to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge to make San Francisco his new home. He is finally starting to pay off for the Giants. He has started 7 games for the Giants this season and he is 5-1 with a 1.90 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP. He has only given up 33 hits in 47 1/3 innings so far this season as he is mixing his curveball and fastball much better this year. In his first three years with the Giants, Zito started 99 games in which he was 31-43 with a 4.56 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. If the Giants are really going to make a legit run at the playoffs this season they need Zito to keep pitching well.

Jonathan Sanchez is off to a blazing start for the San Francisco Giants

The Giants were approached by a lot of teams over the winter about trading for lefty starting pitcher Jonathan Sanchez. But, the Giants resisted which has proven to be a very smart decision. He has started 4 games for the Giants so far this season and he is 2-1 with a 1.85 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. He only has allowed 14 hits in 24 1/3 innings this season while whiffing 33 batters as his stuff has been absolutely electric so far this season. Sanchez still has some control issues as he has walked 13 batters already this season but the 27-year old still appears to be coming into his own this year. If Sanchez keeps up the good work the Giants will probably have the best starting rotation in the N.L.

Barry Zito is off to a outstanding start for the San Francisco Giants

It appears as if 32-year old lefty starting pitcher Barry Zito has his groove back. He has started 3 games for the Giants this season and he is 2-0 with a 1.86 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP. He has only allowed 12 hits and walked 5 batters in 19 1/3 innings this season. Zito is being really aggressive and batters are missing his curveball once again as it has a very sharp break right now. That is because he is using his fastball more than he has in the last couple of years making batters pay for sitting on his curve.
