The Giants have signed 36-year old righty swinging shortstop Miguel Tejada to a 1-year deal worth $6.5 million bucks with another 500K in possible incentives. Tejada played in 156 games for the Orioles & Padres last season and he was 171 of 636 (.269 avg, .692 OPS) with 71 runs scored, 15 homers, 71 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. He has now played in 2,027 games in 14 years in the majors and he is 2,285 of 7,956 (.287 avg, .801 OPS) with 1,187 runs scored, 300 homers, 1,256 RBIs and 80 stolen bases. This was a good move for the Giants as Tejada should be a good replacement for Juan Uribe who signed with the evil Dodgers.

This was a good move for the Giants as Huff was a key part of the offense in 2010.

Matt Cain finishes in a tie for 12th in the N.L. Cy Young Award voting

26-year old righty starting pitcher Matt Cain finished in a tie for 12th place in the Cy Young Award voting with Bronson Arroyo of the Reds. Cain started 33 games for the Giants last season and he was 13-11 with a 3.14 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP. Cain just never gets much support from the rest of the Giants because he should have won 18-20 games this season with the way he pitched. Cain really rose up in the post season for the Giants. He pitched in 3 games (all starts) in the post season for the Giants and he was 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a 0.94 WHIP. He only gave up 13 hits in 21 1/3 innings during the post season. Cain has now pitched in 171 games (170 starts) in his first six years with the Giants and he is 57-62 with a 3.45 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Cain has the talent to win a Cy Young Award in his career he just needs the rest of the Giants to back him up better.

Tim Lincecum finishes in a tie for 10th in the voting for the N.L. Cy Young Award

26-year old righty starting pitcher Tim Lincecum finished in a tie for 10th in the N.L. Cy Young Award voting with Brett Myers. Lincecum started 33 games during the regular season for the Giants and he was 16-10 with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP. It was the 3rd year in a row that Lincecum led the N.L. in strikeouts. Lincecum won the Cy Young Award in 2008+2009 with the Giants but I’m sure he’s happy to have traded in that award for 2010 for the World Series Champions ring he’s going to get. Lincecum was outstanding in the post season for the Giants pitching in 6 games (5 starts) in which he was 4-1 with a 2.43 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP. Lincecum has now pitched in 123 games (122 starts) in his first four years with the Giants and he is 56-27 with a 3.04 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP.

MVP Award showing just what kind of season he had for the Giants.
