Zach Wheeler is off to a slow start as a pro for the San Francisco Giants

20-year old righty starting pitcher Zach Wheeler was the Giants’ #3 rated prospect coming into this season. He was a first round pick last season but he signed to late to pitch in 2009. He has started 7 games in A-ball so far this season for the Giants and he is 1-3 with a 5.06 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. Wheeler has whiffed 33 batters in only 26 2/3 innings this season but he has also walked 17 batters which has got him into some trouble. Wheeler just needs to learn how to pitch as the stuff is there and the Giants will likely take it slow with him.
